Koh Libong

Ko Libong lays near to the mainland of Trang province. There is one bigger village (Ban Maphrao), three smaller villages and three bungalow resorts on the southern west coast near to Ban Lang Khao. The streets are gravel roads and there are some trecking pathways leading to the mountains with its nice limestone cave. The sandy beaches are wide, quite beautiful, but a little dirty from garbage. The water is flat and swiming is only possible at high tide. One attraction of Koh Libong are the seacows living in front of the coast. Another comes every November/December with thousands of birds of passage from Russia stopping here on their way to the south. Koh Libong is unknown Thailand and no tourist attractions or special activities are offered. Kayaking, trecking or island hopping by longtail boat are the prefered things to do.
How to reach: by boat frequently from Chao Mai on the mainland in 30 minutes or by other boats from the islands around (Koh Muk or Koh Sukorn). During rainy season, boat transfers might be canceled.
Rooms: three simple resorts offer huts from bamboo or wood with a restaurant providing good food. Please check: www.libongresort.com
Good for: Travelers with special interests like limestone cave, sea cows or birds.
